Teacher Pay

 According to a report released in March 2019 DPI says The average salary for a North Carolina public school teacher has risen 5 percent to nearly $54,000 this year. Learn More

Educational Budget

Currently North Carolina is operating under a budget that was passed in the 18-19 fiscal year. While legislators argued back and forth regarding teacher pay,the budget was ultimately vetoed by Governor Cooper and his veto was sustained.Learn More

Privatizing Public Education

Increasing government support for school vouchers, a system designed to provide families with school choice using public funds, has resulted in a growing number of public and private  schools across the country. Learn More

Class Sizes

 The North Carolina General Assembly included new class size restrictions for grades K-3 in the 2017-18 budget. These new restrictions  required school districts to reduce those class sizes while simultaneously taking away the funding flexibility districts that many districts have relied on to fund elective classes such as  art, music, PE and world languages.   Learn More

Support Staff

Some of our hardest working members of our educational community is our hourly employees — the bus drivers, the cafeteria staff, the teaching assistants, the receptionists, the custodians, the translators have all seen a reduction in opportunities and pay over the last several years.
